    DME Award 2008 winners live on stage in Cardiff

    Yesterday the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, hosted the Design Management Europe Award 2008 Ceremony within the outstanding atmosphere provided by the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff (UK). Nineteen companies and organisations were presented with the DME Award bringing with it, the prestige of international recognition for their excellence in Design Management. The ceremony, a central event of the Cardiff Design Festival, was attended by senior management and design teams of some of the most innovative companies and organisations across Europe.

    The DME Award ceremony revealed distinguished winners and honourable mentions from amongst European companies and organisations that stand out for their Design Management. Ms. Marija Popovic, representative of the Unit Innovation Policy Development at the European Commission, stated: "We fully support the aim of the award in raising awareness and rewarding the value of design management for the European economy. It links design and creativity with business and innovation strategies. Implementing design management at a strategic level can be a key driver for business success and guarentee a stronger competitive position for Europe in the future."

    The competition is the first of its kind to award the management contribution of successful design, and provides a review of the current state of the art of Design Management for directors, designers and researchers to learn from.
